What it is

What an agent-ready business looks like

An agent-ready business is one whose website, catalogue and terms a machine can read, compare and use without human help. An agentic commerce agency gets you there with structured product and service data, unambiguous prices and policies, an accessible interface and a deliberate bot policy.

Online shops need it now, as do booking-led businesses (hotels, restaurants, clinics) and B2B suppliers with catalogues or price lists. Assistants already research and compare for their users: influence over the decision is happening today, even if the purchase ends on your site.

Delegated checkout, where the agent pays for the user, is emerging and US-first; as of October 2026 we don't sell it as available in Spain. Definitions are in our guide to agentic commerce.

How does an AI agent read your website?

An agent doesn't see your site as a person does; it interprets it. Google's guide to AI search, updated in July 2026, says browser agents may read screenshots, the DOM and the accessibility tree. It points to web.dev's practices for agent-friendly websites and to the Universal Commerce Protocol.

Whatever confuses a screen reader confuses an agent: image-only buttons, unlabelled forms, hover-only prices. And since 28 June 2025, Spain's Law 11/2023 has required consumer e-commerce to be accessible (service micro-enterprises are exempt). We coordinate this with UX/UI and accessibility.

  • Semantic HTML: real headings, buttons and links.
  • Labelled forms and clear errors.
  • Price, availability and terms in text, not images.

The data an agent needs to recommend you

To compare and recommend, an agent needs unambiguous data: what you sell, what it costs with taxes and delivery, whether it's in stock, when it arrives and how to return it. If that is missing, contradictory or locked in a PDF, the agent picks whoever states it clearly.

On the site, Organization, LocalBusiness and Product markup (merchant listings included) remains valuable, although FAQ rich results ended in May 2026. Beyond it, Google's guide says Merchant Center feeds and Google Business Profiles help you appear in AI responses; ongoing management belongs to marketplaces and retail media.

And what Spanish law (the LSSI) already requires, such as identifying your company and, where you show prices, stating them clearly with taxes and delivery costs, should be machine-readable too.

Beyond the shop: bookings and B2B suppliers

Agent readiness is not only for online shops. An assistant arranging a dinner, a stay or a first appointment needs what a product-comparing one needs: availability, price, terms and a form it can understand. If it has to guess, it suggests someone else.

For a booking-led business, common in hospitality and travel, we check that opening hours, rates, cancellation terms and services are stated in text and in structured data, that they match your Google Business Profile and that the booking engine works by keyboard, with clear labels. For a B2B supplier, we check that specifications, price lists, minimum orders and lead times aren't locked in a PDF or hidden behind a bare 'price on request'. And if you sell in several languages, each version needs its own complete data, not a half-translated copy.

  • Bookings: availability, rates and cancellation terms in plain text.
  • B2B: specifications, price lists and lead times that can be compared.
  • Services: what each one includes, who it is for and how to buy it.

AI bots and your CDN: a deliberate access policy

Agents and AI search engines cannot use what they cannot fetch. Your bot policy should be a business decision, not an inherited setting: many sites block assistants, or allow model training, without ever deciding to.

Bots do different jobs. OAI-SearchBot feeds ChatGPT search and GPTBot collects training data: blocking the second doesn't remove you from search; blocking the first does. Claude-SearchBot and PerplexityBot play that search role for Claude and Perplexity, and user-initiated fetches don't always obey robots.txt.

Since 1 July 2025, Cloudflare has also blocked known AI crawlers by default and asks new domains to choose. We apply the policy across robots.txt, CDN and firewall; the full crawl audit belongs to technical SEO.

Designing for trust: what is real in delegated checkout

Delegated checkout is a partial reality today, and mostly a US one. Google announced the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) on 11 January 2026 for checkout with eligible US retailers in AI Mode and the Gemini app. OpenAI retired ChatGPT's Instant Checkout, as reported in March 2026: purchases are completed on the merchant's site.

So we don't promise agentic checkout in Spain. Our agentic commerce consulting watches the key protocols (UCP, ACP, AP2 and MCP) and designs for trust: reversible actions, explicit permission before paying, clear returns and a named party accountable if something fails.

How we measure traffic arriving from AI

We measure whether assistants show you, whether they send visits and what those visits do. We combine official sources, explain their limits and promise no conversion uplift figures.

Search Console's generative AI reports, available to every site since 31 August 2026, show impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode, but no clicks or CTR. Bing Webmaster Tools adds a report on Copilot citations, launched in public preview in February 2026. In your analytics we build a channel for assistant referrals, on top of reliable tracking; being cited in answers is the job of GEO.

What AI does in this service, and what people decide

We use AI to test your site the way an agent would use it and to check data at scale; people make the decisions. AI assistants and browsers walk through search, product page, basket or booking and log where they stall, while scripts compare page, markup and feed for mismatches.

A person reviews and reproduces each finding before giving it a priority. Tests use test orders and test accounts, never your customers' personal data, and nothing goes live on your site without your approval. The reports, specifications and accounts are yours.

The SERMAN approach

Why get agent-ready with SERMAN

  1. No hype about what exists

We separate what is live in Spain from what is only announced, and we date it.

  2. Marketing, data and development together

Whoever audits the feed talks to whoever changes the checkout and whoever measures the result.

  3. Work that pays off either way

Clear data and accessibility already improve the experience for people, whichever protocol wins.

What it is not

What this service is not

  • No guarantee that your products appear in any assistant's shopping results: no platform offers one.
  • No 'buy inside ChatGPT' or agentic checkout in Spain: as of October 2026 it is not generally available, and the purchase is completed on your site.
  • No tricks, hidden text for machines or miracle files. Google confirms llms.txt has no effect on its search.
  • Not a shop build, which belongs to e-commerce, or your own chatbot, which belongs to AI agents.

What we measure

Signs your site is ready for agents

  1. Completable journeys

How many key journeys can be completed from the page structure alone.

  2. Structured data coverage

Pages with valid markup that matches what is on screen.

  3. Feed health

Approved, disapproved and flagged products in Merchant Center.

  4. Bot access

Which AI crawlers get in, and whether that matches the policy.

  5. AI visibility and visits

AI impressions in Search Console, Copilot citations and assistant-referred sessions.

Compliance

Rules we keep in mind

Not a substitute for legal advice.

  1. Accessibility (Law 11/2023)

Consumer e-commerce in Spain has had to be accessible since 28 June 2025; service micro-enterprises are exempt.

  2. Legal information and prices (LSSI, art. 10)

Company details, contact and, where prices are shown, clear amounts with taxes and delivery costs; machine-readable too.

  3. Cookies and consent

No analytics cookies before consent, and rejecting as easy as accepting, per the AEPD guide.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does it mean for a website to be agent-ready?

An AI assistant or browser can understand what you offer, compare it and complete the steps its user asks for. That takes consistent structured data, clear prices and policies, an accessible interface and the right bot access.

What does an agentic commerce agency do?

It makes your website, catalogue and terms readable, comparable and usable by AI agents. The work is also called AI agent optimisation, agent experience optimisation or B2A (business-to-agent) marketing. It builds on SEO and adds feeds, policies, checkout accessibility and bot policy. Google says its AI features require no special files or markup.

Can AI agents already buy from my online shop in Spain?

As of October 2026, generally not. Google's UCP works with eligible US retailers, and in ChatGPT the purchase is completed on the merchant's site. But assistants already compare for their users, so readiness influences who they recommend today.

What data does an AI agent need to recommend my products or services?

Precise attributes, the final price with taxes and delivery, availability, delivery times and returns policies. Also who you are: company details, hours and contact. It should sit on the page, in structured data and in the feed, and match.

Should I block or allow AI bots on my website?

It depends on your goal, and you can separate uses. Blocking GPTBot prevents training but doesn't remove you from ChatGPT search; blocking OAI-SearchBot does. Check the CDN too: since 1 July 2025, Cloudflare has blocked known AI crawlers by default and asks new domains to choose.

What are UCP, ACP and MCP, and how do they affect my business?

They are protocols that let agents interact with merchants and tools. UCP is Google's, for purchases in AI Mode and Gemini, so far with US retailers; ACP is OpenAI's, and MCP is an open protocol hosted at the Linux Foundation. In Spain today: watch them and get your data ready.

How is this different from GEO and technical SEO?

GEO works on getting assistants to mention and cite you in their answers. Technical SEO audits crawling, indexing and performance across the whole site. Agent readiness covers what comes next: whether an agent can compare your offer and complete a purchase or a booking. They share foundations, so we coordinate them.

Does an llms.txt file help AI agents understand my website?

Not with Google: its search does not use the file, and Google has said it neither helps nor harms your visibility. You can keep one in case other systems read it, but it is no substitute for consistent structured data, a well-kept feed and an accessible site, which is where we put the work.

Is it worth it if I don't have an online shop?

Yes, if your customers book, request quotes or compare suppliers. A hotel, restaurant, clinic or B2B supplier needs assistants to understand its availability, rates and terms, and a booking or enquiry form that can be used without ambiguity.
