What it is

What an AI marketing agency does

An AI marketing agency helps you decide where artificial intelligence adds value to your marketing, build it into specific processes and make sure your team uses it well. It doesn't sell a tool: it works as your AI marketing consultant, defining use cases, workflows, rules and training, then measuring whether the change pays off.

Many teams already use AI assistants daily, each person in their own way, with personal accounts and no common standard for data or review. The goal is to move from individual experiments to a shared way of working that is documented and measurable.

This page covers strategy, governance and training. For the build, AI agents handle customer enquiries and marketing automation connects your CRM, email and campaigns. We work from Palma de Mallorca for businesses across Spain and abroad.

The AI-adoption assessment: where we start

The AI-adoption assessment is the first deliverable of our AI adoption consulting and the usual way in: a short document that describes how your team uses AI today, which use cases are worth tackling first and what is missing in data, tools and rules to do it safely.

We build it from role-based interviews and an inventory of tools, accounts and data. It gives no scores and no industry benchmarks: it describes your situation, flags the risks (personal accounts, customer data in assistants without a business contract) and proposes two or three pilots with a baseline. In many companies, what holds back generative AI in marketing is not the technology but a lack of in-house expertise, so the assessment ends in a training plan, not a shopping list.

A use-case map: where AI helps your marketing

AI delivers most on frequent tasks with clear quality standards that a person can check quickly. So we list what your team does each week and rank it by impact, risk and effort before choosing any tool. The order changes by sector: in hotels and tourism, reviews and enquiries in several languages tend to come first; for a consumer brand with an online shop, product pages and ad variants.

  • Research: competitors, reviews, search behaviour and briefings.
  • Content: outlines and drafts a person edits before publication, just as in our content marketing.
  • Ad creative: copy and image variants for search and paid social, within your brand rules.
  • Reporting: summaries, anomaly spotting and first-pass analysis of your analytics data.
  • Qualification: sorting inbound enquiries for your sales team.

AI training for marketing teams: workshops, playbooks and prompts

Our AI training for marketing teams is hands-on and role-based: people learn with their own tasks, not generic examples, and leave each session with something usable the next day. It is AI enablement for marketing teams in the practical sense. The workshops also support the AI-literacy duty in Article 4 of the EU AI Act, and we keep a record of who was trained and on what.

  • Role-based workshops: content and social, advertising, CRM and sales, analytics and leadership.
  • Playbooks: each workflow step by step, with the tool, the data allowed and who reviews.
  • Prompt library: tested, versioned instructions your team keeps up to date.
  • Brand AI kit: tone guardrails and approved elements so AI-assisted output sounds like your brand, built with branding.
  • Responsible use: bias, hallucinations, intellectual property, personal data and when not to use AI.

Governance: a written AI policy for using AI safely

AI governance means deciding in writing which tools are used, with which data, who reviews each output and how customers are informed. Together we draft a short AI usage policy, a tool inventory and a data classification: what may go into an assistant, what only into business-grade tools and what never. In a private clinic, for example, the policy starts by keeping patients' health data out of any general-purpose assistant. Each policy names an owner and is reviewed when the tools or the rules change.

GDPR information duties apply when customer data passes through AI tools, and we only say data isn't used for model training when the settings and contract guarantee it. Human review is not a formality either: Google's spam policies treat mass-produced content without value as abuse, AI included.

What the EU AI Act means for marketing

As of October 2026, the EU AI Act duties that matter most for marketing are live: AI literacy since 2 February 2025 (the same date as the prohibited practices) and Article 50 transparency since 2 August 2026. For most marketing teams, what changes day to day is transparency and training.

Chatbots and voice agents must disclose they are AI at the start of the conversation, unless that is obvious. Realistic images, audio or video that could pass as genuine (deepfakes) must be disclosed as artificial, as must AI text published to inform the public on matters of public interest unless a person has reviewed it editorially. The Act has been in force since 1 August 2024, has applied to providers of general-purpose AI models since 2 August 2025 and applies its high-risk rules from 2 December 2027 (Annex III) and 2 August 2028 (Annex I), as amended by the Digital Omnibus on AI.

Tools and pilots: AI adoption that sticks

AI adoption works better through small, measured pilots than a company-wide rollout: we pick two or three workflows, measure them, redesign them with AI, compare and scale only what proves its worth.

Tool selection comes after the use cases, not before, and compares every option on the same four criteria. Sometimes the business licence of an assistant you already pay for is enough; sometimes you need a custom AI agent. Unsure which channels to prioritise? Start with digital strategy.

  • Data: where it is processed, how long it is kept and whether the vendor uses it to train its models.
  • Contract: a business licence, a data processing agreement and admin controls.
  • Integration: whether it fits your CRM, CMS and analytics without manual work.
  • Adoption: whether your team will really use it, and what training that takes.

The SERMAN approach

Why work on AI with SERMAN

  1. Marketing first

We start from your marketing goals, then choose the technology.

  2. Training on your real work

Your team learns with its own materials and workflows, not generic demos.

  3. Governance you can explain

Documented policies and criteria that show customers and leadership how you use AI.

  4. What we build stays with you

Workflows, playbooks, prompts and the policy are documented in your systems, so your team can maintain them without depending on us.

What it is not

What this service isn't

  • Not legal advice: we apply the framework and your advisers sign off legal decisions.
  • Not an official AI certification or a compliance seal.
  • Not tool reselling dressed up as advice: we recommend on documented criteria, and sometimes the best answer is to add nothing.
  • Not about replacing your team with AI or publishing unreviewed mass content.
  • Not a promise of 'transformation' or hours saved: we measure against your baseline.
  • Not a licence to use your customers' data for model training, unless that is agreed by contract.

What we measure

How we measure whether AI pays off

Against your own baseline: savings are measured, not promised.

  1. Real adoption

Use of approved tools versus unapproved ones.

  2. Time per workflow

Hours spent before and after on each pilot.

  3. Output quality

Work passing human review first time, plus errors and corrections.

  4. Use cases in production

Pilots moved into daily use, and those dropped, with the reason.

  5. Training and governance

Workshop coverage by role, a current policy and tool inventory.

Who it's for

A particularly good fit if…

  • Your team already uses AI on its own, without shared rules on data.
  • You produce lots of content, campaigns or reports and want time back without losing quality.
  • You need an AI usage policy and training in line with the EU AI Act.
  • You run a hotel, online shop, clinic, software company, academy or professional firm with in-house marketing.

Compliance

Regulation we apply

A practical summary as of October 2026; not legal advice.

  1. EU AI Act, Article 50

Chatbot and voice-agent disclosure, machine-readable marking by providers (generative AI systems already on the market before 2 August 2026 have until 2 December 2026) and deepfake labelling. Fines can reach €15 million or 3% of worldwide turnover.

  2. AI literacy, Article 4

Since the Digital Omnibus on AI, a duty to support staff AI literacy, not to certify it. Our workshops help you meet and document it.

  3. GDPR and Spain's LOPDGDD

Using personal data in AI tools must be covered in your GDPR Article 13 and 14 notices, with a lawful basis and, where a vendor processes it for you, a processing agreement.

  4. AESIA and Spain's AI bill

AESIA, based in A Coruña, supervises AI in Spain. Spain's AI law is still a bill going through parliament: the Council of Ministers approved it on 26 May 2026.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does an AI marketing agency do?

It reviews how your team works, finds where AI adds value at acceptable risk, selects tools, redesigns workflows and trains your people. For an AI marketing agency like ours, that spans research, content, ad creative, reporting and lead handling, always with human review.

How do I start using AI in my company's marketing?

Pick two or three frequent, easy-to-check workflows, measure them, redesign them with AI and compare. Scale only what improves and meanwhile approve a usage policy and train the team by role.

What does the EU AI Act require from businesses using AI in marketing?

Mainly transparency and training: since 2 August 2026, chatbots and voice agents must disclose they are AI and deepfakes must be labelled; since February 2025, the AI-literacy duty for staff has applied. There is no blanket duty to label all AI-assisted marketing content.

Do we have to train employees in AI?

There's no mandatory course or qualification, but there is a duty: Article 4 of the AI Act, as amended by the Digital Omnibus on AI, requires organisations to support AI literacy among staff who use it. Keep a record of the training.

Do we need to tell customers when we use AI?

Yes, for chatbots and voice agents, and for realistic images, audio or video that could pass as genuine. Marketing copy drafted with AI and reviewed by a person generally needs no label, though openness is good practice. Our guide to AI agents for lead generation shows how the disclosure works in an agent.

Which marketing tasks can AI automate?

Typically market research, content drafts, ad variants, report summaries and enquiry sorting. Strategy, the final sign-off on published work and decisions that significantly affect people shouldn't be fully automated. For ads, read AI in advertising.
